Delegate James E. Edmunds II, R-60th District, has been recognized by the Virginia Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts (VASWCD) as the 2014 "Legislator of the Year" award recipient. Noted by the Association as a strong supporter of conservation, they commended Edmunds for the leadership he provided during the 2014 Virginia General Assembly Session.

The award was presented at the 2014 Virginia Association of Soil & Water Conservation Districts Annual Meeting held at the Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center.

"As volunteer district directors, we appreciate the amount of time Delegate Edmunds gives many issues including conservation, and are grateful for his support to the soil and water conservation district community. He truly understands the importance and value of SWCD work," stated Chris Simmons, President of VASWCD.

During the 2014 Legislative Session, Edmunds was instrumental in helping SWCDs by introducing legislation and initiating work with VDOT for installation of signage announcing entry into a soil and water conservation district. The Association has been working closely with VDOT and partners to finalize signage requirements.

Edmunds represents the 60th House District, which includes the Counties of Charlotte, Halifax, Prince Edwards and parts of Campbell County. Edmunds has been serving since 2010.
