Bill To Increase Number of Members on Board of Supervisors

In light of the recent stalemate within the Halifax County Board of Supervisors, I am writing today to let you know that I have had a bill drafted that would increase the number of members of our board of supervisors to nine. This member would be an at-large member and need only be a resident of the county. This bill is similar to one that passed for Page County several years ago when they were faced with a similar situation.

Let me stress that I have not yet introduced the bill – I have until next Friday, January 23rd to make that decision. I would very much like to hear the opinion of residents of Halifax County before sending this bill to be voted on.

“I requested this bill in order to prevent future tie votes and as an option to allow the business of the County, particularly economic development, to continue,” stated Delegate Edmunds.

Please send your opinion to me as soon as possible via email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., by phone at 804/698-1060. I look forward to seeing your comments.
