Halifax County landmarks may soon be seen on the big screen. Delegate James Edmunds tells us the county is on a short list of locations for what he calls a big movie.

He says it's a fictional love story set during the Civil War but won't say much else.

The Battle of Staunton River Bridge was fought in the county and is already a tourist destination.

The tourism director says whatever the movie, if it's big, and well received, then the county will benefit.

"Hotels will make money, restaurants will make money, all the way down, that trickle down effect, but what happens after the movie is made? People relate to that. As a tourism office we're trying to connect the dots So the bigger the movie, the bigger the stage for us," said Linda Shepperd, the Halifax County tourism director.

Delegate Edmunds is a friend of the script writers who recently toured the area. The county is up against another location in Tennessee.
