HALIFAX:

  • HB 2242 Hunting requirements for person under age 12
  • HB 2300 Utility terrain vehicles
  • HB 2319 Halifax County Board of Supervisors; election of an at-large member

If you want to track any of these bills you can do so at the General Assembly website: http://virginiageneralassembly.gov/. If you have any questions or concerns about my legislation please do not hesitate to call my office at 804/698-1060.

You may not know that there are over 300 boards and commissions that Virginia residents are eligible to serve. Many opening have become available and you may be interested in serving. Please take some time to visit the website to see if there is anything that peaks your interest: www.comonwealth.virginia.gov. You may apply for up to three boards and commissions.

We received word from VDOT this week about the Route 49 Bridge over Aaron's Creek will be closed on January 26, 2015 for replacement until June 17, 2016.

Of Local Interest

The building was flooded this week with visitors and many of them were from our district! On Wednesday Reverend Frank Carr delivered the opening prayer for the House of Delegates and also represented the American Legion. I had the privilege of recognizing the Halifax County Dixie Ponytails Softball Team during assembly on Wednesday. I was very pleased that the players and their parents were able to be here for their well-deserved recognition. I met with, Dr. Jacqueline Fogarty and Dr. William Bell of Halifax on behalf of the Medical Society of Virginia. In addition I met with, Vickie Wright, Nettie Simon-Owens and Mark Estes, all of Halifax County and Larry Clark of Charlotte County. Shannon Salley of Halifax and Richard Altice of Prince Edward also visited the office.

Quote of the Day:

"Watch your thoughts, for they become words. Watch your words, for they become actions. Watch your actions, for they become habits. Watch your habits, for they become your character. And watch your character, for it becomes your destiny. What we think, we become." -Margaret Thatcher
