Halifax:
Governor Terry McAuliffe is at it again! Not only has he vetoed nearly every conservative piece of legislation that was passed during the 2017 session, now he wants to bring back a law that would prohibit anyone from purchasing more than one handgun a month.

Governor McAuliffe tacked an amendment onto a bill introduced by Senator Richard Stuart (SB1023), and passed by both houses of the General Assembly this session, that would protect Virginians with concealed carry handgun permits when traveling in states that do not recognize Virginia's law. McAuliffe's amendment will make it a Class 1 misdemeanor, punishable by up to a year in jail and a $2500 fine, for anyone, other than a licensed gun dealer, to lawfully purchase more than one gun a month.

It has been proven time and time again that criminals will get guns whether there is a law on the books or not simply by faking "straw purchases". This law would only punish law-abiding citizens.

If you feel, as I do, that this action is unlawful, call or email the Governor's office and register your opinion. https://governor.virginia.gov/.

We go back to Richmond April 5th to address this issue and other actions taken by Governor McAuliffe since the legislature adjourned February 25th. I will vote to defeat this amendment!
